San Antonio, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Zach Randolph scored all six of Memphis points in the third overtime, lifting the Grizzlies over the San Antonio Spurs, 117-116, in a wildly entertaining game on Wednesday. Randolph ended with 21 points and 21 rebounds for the Grizzlies, who ended the Warriors 16-game winning streak with a 105-98 win Tuesday. Marc Gasol tallied 26 points and nine boards. Its the biggest game for us because theyve been beating us, said Randolph. The last time we won here was what, the playoffs, right? Its a long time. They have our number. It felt good to get a win, to get that confidence. Vince Carter made five 3-pointers en route to 18 points for Memphis, which won despite blowing a 23-point lead. Mike Conley donated 14 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds. The Grizzlies have won six in a row to improve to 21-4 on the season. Danny Green went 7-of-13 from beyond the arc and finished with 25 points and seven boards for the Spurs, who have lost two in a row. Tim Duncan had 23 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks. It was great all around. There were some good shots made and some big shots missed, said Duncan. We put ourselves in a tough position to start the game because we were down so much. It was just the little things. We really fought back into it though and gave it all we had, but we came up short. The fun started after Greens 3-pointer gave the Spurs an 88-86 lead with one minute remaining in regulation. After Gasol missed a layup, Duncan went 1-of-2 from the line to make it a three-point contest. Carter missed a 3-pointer and Boris Diaw came down with a key defensive rebound. Diaw, however, threw the ball away and Conley made a game-tying 3- pointer with 7.2 seconds left. Following a timeout, Manu Ginobili kicked the ball out to a wide-open Green for another 3-pointer. But Gasol followed with a ridiculous 30-foot bank shot at the buzzer to force overtime. Diaw and Green each connected from beyond the arc around a Conley jumper to make it 101-100 San Antonio with 1:21 remaining in the first overtime. Duncan and Green recorded blocks to give the Spurs the ball back. Duncan went 1-of-2 from the line with 48.9 ticks left on the clock, but the Spurs made another critical mistake. After Carter missed a 3-pointer, Ginobili turned the ball over on a bad pass. Gasol made San Antonio pay by making a game-tying layup with 9.3 seconds to go. Ginobilis one-handed jumper was off the mark as time expired. The Spurs took a 109-108 lead on Diaws 3-pointer with 1:01 left in the second overtime. After an empty possession from each team, Courtney Lee made a go- ahead 3-pointer with 2.6 seconds remaining. Duncan forced another overtime with a 16-foot bank shot that rattled in. Duncan started the third extra session with a short jumper, but Randolph scored the next six points. Greens final 3-pointer of the night cut the gap to 117-116 with 40.5 seconds left. San Antonio had one last chance following misses from Conley and Lee. Ginobili, however, missed from distance and Conley came down with the defensive rebound. Earlier, the Grizzlies shot 70 percent from the field in the first quarter en route to a 34-19 lead. The margin reached 23 in the second, but the Spurs ended the frame on a 24-8 run to get within 52-45 at the half. The Grizzlies came out strong in the third stanza and built a 17-point lead. However, San Antonio fought back again and got within 73-68 heading to the fourth. Marco Belinelli and Green made back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Spurs their first lead of the game, 80-77, with 8:21 left in the fourth. Game Notes Memphis guard Tony Allen (eye) missed the game ... San Antonio was without Kawhi Leonard (hand) and Tony Parker (hamstring) ... Ginobili had 21 points, eight rebounds and eight assists ... The Spurs went 17-of-35 from beyond the arc ... Duncan played 47 minutes and 44 seconds ... For the Spurs, this was their first triple-overtime game since a win over the Atlanta Hawks on March 20, 1984. Denard Span Jersey . Hes the same player he always was, only now his efforts are being rewarded. The rookie manager has made a habit of heaping praise on others when things are going well, and accepting criticism when they arent. But in the case of Hurtado, its what the coach is NOT saying that may be the secret to a superb run of form. Alex Colome Jersey . Goodell said in an ESPN Radio interview Monday (http://es.pn/1gkbauy ) that participants played harder and made the game very competitive. Ive got a couple of big trucks so my big trucks will fit in the big city. In Toronto youve got a little-bitty garage and I had to leave my big trucks at home. So that will definitely be fun for me.The free agent outfielder was introduced Wednesday, a day after he finalized an $8 million, one-year contract with the Astros. The deal followed Houstons decision to trade last years starting centre fielder, Dexter Fowler, to the Chicago Cubs.Rasmus has hit at least 18 homers in each of his last three seasons, including tying a career-best with 23 in 2012. The lefty batter hit .225 with 40 RBIs and 21 doubles in 104 games for the Blue Jays last year. The signing reunites him with Houston general manager Jeff Luhnow, who selected him in the first round of the 2005 amateur draft for the St. Louis Cardinals. As scouting director, he was my first-ever selection, so we were sort of tied together in the St. Louis media throughout his rise through the minor leagues, Luhnow said. It was a good opportunity for us to reunite. Its always nice when you have some pre-existing relationship with a player and you know a little bit about them.Luhnow believes Rasmus will be a nice addition to a lineup already laced with power hitters including Chris Carter, George Springer and Evan Gattis.Hes got speed, Luhnow said. Hes got power. Hes a good defender. I think hes really going to add something to our lineup and be a really complementary piece to what were putting together.Rasmus played for the Cardinals from 20009 until he was traded to the Blue Jays in July 2011.dddddddddddd Hes looking forward to working with Luhnow again. We always got along and had a good rapport with each other when I got drafted and throughout the minor leagues, Rasmus said. To be back with him I knew it would be a good place for me because we understand each other and hes known me for a long time and knows how I work and things that make me tick. The 28-year-old said Houston was where he wanted to be since he became a free agent. He had been interested in the Astros for years, since discussing what its like to play here with former Astros star Lance Berkman.I played with Lance Berkman with the Cardinals and he loved playing here, Rasmus said. To hear him talk about it, I thought it would be a good place for me.Rasmus started 80 games in centre field last season and has played both right and left field in his six-year big league career. Hes most comfortable in centre field but is open to playing wherever new manager A.J. Hinch decides to put him.Ill be ready to do anything that the team needs, Rasmus said. Weve got a couple of other guys that can play some good centre field. So moving around and doing some things that A.J. might think will help us do that — Im game in with that. I just want to come in and win and winning is going to be the key for us.The majority of Houstons outfielders are versatile enough to play all three positions. Jake Marisnick, who was acquired in a trade with the Marlins last season, is the most likely alternative in centre if Rasmus doesnt get the job.My goal this spring was to provide A.J. and his staff with as many options as possible and backups to those options, Luhnow said when asked if Ramus would start in centre. Hes got options and if one doesnt work he can always move to another. We know that we signed Colby to be in our lineup. He certainly will be facing probably all the righties and a decent amount of lefties. ' ' '
